The XIth Congress of the EAJS 2018

The room 101N at the Pedagogical University is out of use. On July 17&18 all the sessions scheduled in this room will be moved to 310N; on July 19 all the sessions will be moved to 301N in the same building.


As an essential part of its mission to promote academic Jewish Studies in Europe, the European Association for Jewish Studies organises every four years a major Congress devoted to all periods and fields of Jewish Studies. The XIth Congress of the EAJS will take place in Kraków in 2018 (July, 15-19).

The keynote theme of the XIth Congress is: Searching for Roots of Jewish Traditions.

The Congress is organised by the Institute of Jewish Studies, Jagiellonian University in cooperation with the Alef Foundation and with the kind support of other institutions and foundations.

Every participant is responsible for finding an accomodation; conference fee does not cover the cost of accomodation in Krakow. There is hovewer a number of hotels and hostels which ofer discounts for the Congress participants. More information can be found in "Accomodation" section.

Childcare during the Congress

We offer a childcare in cooperation with the kindergarten of the Jewish Community Center (JCC). Kosher meals will be avialable. Please mind that the number of spots is limited. To receive more details please write to

Power Point Presentations
The conference venues are equipped with beamers. 
We kindly ask participants willing to use PPTX presentation to submit it a day before their panel in a slideroom located next to the registration point. Speakers scheduled for Monday morning - please submit your presentation during the registration on Sunday afternoon.
Lenght of the presentations
Please mind that the time allocated for every presentation is 20 minutes maximum (+ 10 minutes of discussion). We kindly ask the participants to adjust to this timeframe.
